A new paper on how to eliminate the stereotype of “non-female” academic professions?

A new paper on how to eliminate the stereotype of “non-female” academic professions was published in a publication by the Association of Engineering Societies Maribor published in March 2020. The paper was written by Lucija Brezočnik. Recently, we have witnessed increasing social and economic concern due to the low representation of women in the science and technology industry. As this is not just a local problem but is observed in most countries around the world, in the paper global trends in the choice of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) studies among the female population is presented. Some measures that can help increase the representation of women in the field of STEM are listed, and the activities of the newly established affinity group IEEE Women and Engineering Slovenia is presented. The latter, as the name suggests, strives to reduce the gender gap in the field of STEM.
